ProRes fills a phone fast. Vault Mag snaps onto the back of your iPhone with N52 magnets and carries an M.2 NVMe SSD of up to 8 TB. On iPhone 15 Pro and later Pro models, you record 4K60 ProRes straight to that drive and leave your phone's storage alone.
It is also a 6-in-1 dock: HDMI 4K60, SD and microSD slots, USB-A and USB-C at 10Gbps, and a USB-C PD input rated up to 100W. When the shoot wraps, connect it to your laptop and move the footage over a 10Gbps link. The SSD is sold separately.

ProRes recording
On iPhone 15 Pro and later Pro models, 4K60 ProRes records straight to the SSD. Long takes no longer depend on how much space your phone has left.
10Gbps transfer
The drive travels with the footage. Unplug from your iPhone, connect to your computer, and open the files over a 10Gbps USB-C link.
Card readers
SD and microSD 3.0 slots bring in footage from a camera, drone or action cam, with no separate reader in your bag.
HDMI output
Send your screen to a monitor, TV or field display at up to 4K60. Video out needs a phone with a full-function USB-C port.
Power delivery
Plug a USB-C charger into the PD port to run the dock and charge your device at the same time. It accepts up to 100W and passes up to 90W through.
Installation
Lift the lid by hand, slide the SSD in and lock it with the tool-free clip. Close the lid and you are ready to record.

No. Vault Mag ships without a drive, so you choose the capacity. Pick an M.2 NVMe (PCIe) SSD in 2230, 2242, 2260 or 2280 length, M key or B+M key, up to 8 TB. It is built for NVMe, so M.2 SATA drives are not on the supported list.
Only for large drives on a phone. Up to 1 TB, the phone powers the SSD by itself. At 2 TB and above (these drives draw more than 3.3V 1.8A), connect a USB-C charger to the PD port. Plugged into a computer, Vault Mag gets all the power it needs from the computer, whatever the drive size.
Vault Mag is designed mainly for iPhone 15, 16 and 17 series, and also works with iPad, laptops and Android phones over USB-C. Check that your phone has a full-function USB-C port: HDMI video out and some other functions depend on it. Larger phones (Pro, Pro Max, Plus sizes) give the best fit.
iPhone 15 Pro and later Pro models record 4K60 ProRes directly to the SSD. Standard iPhone 15, 16 and 17 models, iPhone 16e and iPhone Air have a USB 2 port, so the phone limits transfer speed and external ProRes recording is not available.
Fit the SSD, snap Vault Mag onto your iPhone 15 Pro or later Pro model and connect the short cable. For drives of 2 TB or more, plug USB-C power into the PD port first. Turn on Apple ProRes in Settings > Camera > Formats, then select ProRes in the Camera app.
Yes. It is firm when new and loosens with use. Work it with your fingers a handful of times and it will seat more easily, which helps most on iPhone 15 models. Avoid forcing it into a sharp angle.
N52 magnets snap Vault Mag onto MagSafe iPhones and MagSafe cases. If your phone or case has no magnets, including iPhone 16e and Android phones without magnets, attach the included magnetic ring first.
Yes. The built-in fan has an on/off switch. Turn it on for long recordings and large transfers, and off when you want quiet.
